Anonym bruker Skrevet 28. juni 2007 #1 Skrevet 28. juni 2007 Hi...I had 2 breast reductions when i was 16, for medical reasons. Now i have been told that i will probably not be able to breastfeed. I know that they push breast-feeding here and was wondering if anyone has any experience with any of the formulas on the market, as well as what they give in the hospital.

I don't know if "HIPP" has Formula, but their baby food is the best by far. Good luck. My guess is that they will probably make you try and breastfeed in the beginning anyway...
Anonym bruker Skrevet 1. juli 2007 #3 Skrevet 1. juli 2007 Thanks...but how will they know if the baby is getting enough milk etc. It scares me a bit that they can try and force such an issue
LynxLynx Skrevet 2. juli 2007 #4 Skrevet 2. juli 2007 They can not force you to do anything you don't want to. Midwifes may be brisk, but stand your ground and don't give in. Tell them there is a medical reason you can't breatfeed.
Anonym bruker Skrevet 2. juli 2007 #5 Skrevet 2. juli 2007 Try the formula COLLETT. I was recommended to use collett because it reduses the risk of belly-ache. I used fomula combined with breastfeeding and that worked very well since I didn`t produce enough milk myself. Good luck!
Anonym bruker Skrevet 3. juli 2007 #6 Skrevet 3. juli 2007 Thanks again!! Where do you get Collett?? I have not seen it in any of the supermarkets. And in the norwegian forum there was a thread about how difficult it is to come by.
Anonym bruker Skrevet 4. juli 2007 #7 Skrevet 4. juli 2007 We`ve bought it at our regular supermarkeds - rema, prix, rimi. Just ask at your local supermarked if they can order it for you, it`s worth a try....
Anonym bruker Skrevet 4. juli 2007 #8 Skrevet 4. juli 2007 Your opportunity to breastfeed your child is depending on what kind of surgical methods they have used on you. You probably can breastfeed, but not full breastfeeding. It will probably have to be bottle-feeding. If you talk to your midwife abut your breast reduction, she can give you some advice about breast feeding your child. The doctor can give you a prescription on Syntonicynon spray; it is a hormone that will help the milk easier to com/ flow. And there is other aid products who can help you to “breast feeding”, “hjelpe bryst” Just try to breast feed your child. I wish you good luck. (Helsesøster)
