Lillypad Skrevet 30. november 2006 #1 Skrevet 30. november 2006 Hei! I just moved to Skien from Oslo with my husband who is Norwegian. We are expecting our first baby in May!!! We moved to Norway a bit over two years ago from Eugene Oregon where we lived for 6 years. I am originally from North Dakota. Would be fun to know if there are more Nor-Amer couples or English speaking pregnant women in the area?
Ella&jeg Skrevet 30. november 2006 #2 Skrevet 30. november 2006 Hi there, My fiancé and I moved from Melbourne, Australia in August and our baby-girl is due 1/1. I'm originally from Larvik (which is about 30 minutes from Skien) and my parents still live there so I spend a lot of time in the area.
Lillypad Skrevet 1. desember 2006 Forfatter #3 Skrevet 1. desember 2006 Hi, You are getting near your due date, exciting! I hope the adjustment to life in Norway is going well for both you and your fiancé. I haven't been to Austalia, but I remember the adjustment my husband and I went through when we moved to Norway a bit over 2 years ago. Are you currently living in Skien? We just bought a house in Kleiva and really like the area. Haven't checked out the cafe life in Skien, but I work in Porsgrunn and have been to a couple nice cafes there. -Susan

Månestråle85 Skrevet 20. januar 2007 #6 Skrevet 20. januar 2007 How nice to see someone living in Skien here Hopefully we'll move there during the autum. I am a "Skiens-girl" myself, and my fiancee is from India. Do you speak Norwegian or only English? Do you work? If you do, was it difficult to get a job in Skien when you only speak English? Sorry about all the questions, but I'm really worried about how my fiancee is going to find a job, as his Norwegian is not that good yet.
Ehlers Skrevet 23. januar 2007 #7 Skrevet 23. januar 2007 Hi Månestråle! My husband speaks only a little Norwegian, but managed to find a job at Aker Yards. I think the job opportunities depend on what kind of profession you have, and how far you are willing to commute. What kind of education does your fiancee have? We speak English at home, and do not feel the need for more Norwegian. Maybe when the baby comes... :-)
