pucinette Skrevet 7. november 2006 #1 Skrevet 7. november 2006 Hi, we are looking for a dagmamma for our 11-months old daughter, preferably english-speaking. We are a bilingual family (norwegian/french) using some (bad!) english at home... We are planning to apply at the international school when she gets older and would like her to hear a little more english til then. Do you by chance know one (several?!) in the centre (Bergen) or on Minde/Landås? På forhånd takk :-)
pucinette Skrevet 13. november 2006 Forfatter #2 Skrevet 13. november 2006 Hi again :-) no english-speaking dagmamma in Bergen?! It seems to be a hassle to simply find a good dagmamma in this country. I'd be interested in exchanging thoughts about it. Not easy to leave our children every morning to an unqualified woman who takes care of 4-5 other children... I am sure there are dagmammas who are highly qualified and competent. Unfortunately, it is my experience that not all of them are and I find it worrying... Hilsen :-)
Anonym bruker Skrevet 13. november 2006 #3 Skrevet 13. november 2006 Just so you know, a dagmamma is not allowed to look after more than 3 children without being registered as a "family barnehage".
pucinette Skrevet 14. november 2006 Forfatter #4 Skrevet 14. november 2006 I thought it was 5... There are not many registered dagmamma who have only three children to look after. Do you have a link to the official regulations? I would be interested in reading more about it.
Anonym bruker Skrevet 18. november 2006 #5 Skrevet 18. november 2006 Just go with your gut feeling on this one.................. Go for several interviews and see how the dagmamma responds to your questions and how they interact to your child. There are some really wonderful dagamamma's out there, unfortunately as with most things, the only ones you hear of are the really rotten ones!!
pucinette Skrevet 19. november 2006 Forfatter #6 Skrevet 19. november 2006 Right... if only there were several dagmammaer ;-) There are extremely few (if any) available so it is not like one can choose actually. But thanks for the advice.
Anonym bruker Skrevet 19. november 2006 #7 Skrevet 19. november 2006 There are several Norwegian-speaking dagmammaer and what I meant was go for interviews with both Norwegian and English speaking ones and then make your decision not based on the language but who will be better suited to look after your child!
pucinette Skrevet 20. november 2006 Forfatter #8 Skrevet 20. november 2006 Dear 'Anonym' ;-) That is what I meant, i.e. dagmammaer in general. Whatever the language. I did not write 'english-speaking' in my previous message. There are very few dagmammaer available, that is a fact. I would not base the choice of a dagmamma on her mother-tongue. That being said I did not ask for advices on how to find a dagmamma, I simply wanted to hear which experience others have and which solutions they found. Mostly because I feel the situtation in Norway (or Bergen?) is different from many other countries. So if you do not have anything to say on the topic, you do not need to answer me ;-) We are going through a difficult time because of inadequate solution for the daycare of our child and I certainly do not need the type of comment you are sending.
Anonym bruker Skrevet 21. november 2006 #9 Skrevet 21. november 2006 Have you looked around on the internet and/or in newspapers??? http://www.baby.no/markedsplassen/barnepass/ http://www.geocities.com/mailmegdaelastic/ http://www.zett.no/stilling__hordaland__bergen__dagmamma_%3A_praktikant__arbeid_utf%C3%B8res.html
Anonym bruker Skrevet 22. desember 2006 #10 Skrevet 22. desember 2006 With that kind of attitude I'm not surprised you aren't able to find anything suitable. Geesh! I've had an advertisement in both BT and BA and had a lot of responses however a very limited number of those who replied were even remotely interesting. But you're asking for experience and not willing to listen which I find rather rude to be honest.......... If you're not willing to listen to polite responses from someone who's actually just trying to help you out in your difficult situation, perhaps you should refrain from posting at all.................
