Experience about living in Romsås

Hei!

My husband and I arrived a year ago to Oslo (from EU) and we are working at the University.
We are planning to buy a flat in an affordable area of Oslo, which is not further than 30 minutes from the city center and the University and also close to the forest as well :)
Romsås would be an ideal place, we visited the area recently, and we really fell in love with the beautiful nature there.
I heard from my colleague that the people who are living there can be very different depending on which 'borettslag'  they live in.
(She said in some buildings the municipality lend the flats to poor people who sometimes does not care about the flat condition and to keep thing tidy in general.)
If someone reading my message who lives there please answer me if there are any differences between borettslag-s? And if yes,  which borettslag is the 'best' to move in for a young couple (potentially having kids in the future)?

Tusen takk!

Hi.
I’ll answer you back in English.

I live in Romsås and I absolutely love it here. It’s taken care of by the people living here and by vaktmesterne. Romsås itself got around 25 vaktmestere working here and they are taking care of everything that needs to be taken care of summer time and winter time.

There is a lot of Norwegians that live here. I was quite surprised because I expected it to be mostly populated by people from other nations. They are friendly and take care of their apartments/outdoor living space.

There’s a small centre near the subway that provides library, swimming hall, gym, dentist, doctors, grocery shops etc. If you have a need for anything more Stovner is not far away or the town (Around 25min with subway).

Romsås got 3 schools and many kindergartens. The nature is beautiful and the woods is right outside. It’s a also a water called svarttjern which is so lovely during summer.

The apartments and outdoor space is renovated and they offer large apartments at a reasonable price.

I live in Emanuelfjell and majority of people living in my borettslag are Norwegians and retired ones.

Some of my friends who grew up here has told me that they would not look for any other place to settle down because they love this place.

For the price you get buying a apartment here it’s absolutely worth it. In my opinion I think when people open their eyes to this place, the prices are going to increase. Buying closer to town you would pay a lot more and still not get what you get in Romsås.

Romsås is still undiscovered so you can get big apartments for small prices. Wonderful area, great views, I would go for one of the highest situated borettslag if I had a choice.
