hva betyr recovery mode?

Skal kjøpe Ipad brukt å selgeren som kontakter meg sier at ipaden er i  

recovery mode etter at barna har lekt med den,derfor selger hun den billig.

Jeg trodde det betydde at den ipaden var satt tilbake til fabrikkinnstillinger,men hun legger det jo frem som noe negativt så det betyr kanskje noe annet enn jeg tror?
