An old couple, coming home from their 50th wedding anniversary are sitting in the driveway. The wife looks at the husband, tears streaming down his face. She says to him, "Honey, are you thinking of all the good times? The children and grandchildren?"

 

He looks at her and says, "No. Do you remember when your father caught us in the barn just after we first got together? Do you remember what he said to me as I buttoned my shirt?"

 

"Yes dear, he said you can either marry my daughter or spend the next 50 years in prison. You're a good man so you did the right thing."

 

He looks right at her, sobbing, and says, "I could have been a free man today."
