sesame Skrevet 6. september 2009 #1 Skrevet 6. september 2009 I'm Norwegian and my wife is an english speaker. We lived in the US for about 10 years before we moved to Norway. Our baby is 14 months old. We want to wait with the kindergarden and was wondering if there are any english speaking playgroups or get-togethers in the Oslo area? We don't want our boy to miss out on social development and don't have many english friends with babies...
Sandida Skrevet 7. september 2009 #2 Skrevet 7. september 2009 Hi, We are an international mothergroup and we speak english. We meet 2-3 times a month and exchange life experience, how to living in Norway, babys...etc... I am from Switzerland my boyfriend is Norwegian we speak english together. Our boy is 1 year young and he is on the waitinglist for the barnehagen...so I have plenty of time to go for stroll`s around town. We live in Oslo city.
shari_z Skrevet 7. september 2009 #3 Skrevet 7. september 2009 There is a group that meets at Høvik church (or used to, at least). I have never gone there myself as I heard through an acquaintance that the mothers/fathers all spoke English with each other while the children played together in Norwegian - and I wanted a group where the children spoke English so my child could get reinforcement on her English. If you are interested in that, I'm sure I could find the contact information or point you in the right direction to find it. Otherwise, post here. I have met a couple good friends through this website who speak English with their spouses and kids and we get together just to be able to speak English with each other (even though we are all fluent in Norwegian).
