Anonym bruker Skrevet 7. januar 2009 #1 Skrevet 7. januar 2009 Can I bring my daughters carseat with me from the US or do I have to get a new one when I come to Norway? What are the rules and regulations for convertible carseats in Norway?
Anonym bruker Skrevet 8. januar 2009 #2 Skrevet 8. januar 2009 The system for approving carseat in the US is different from the european system. Carseats from the US are not approved for the european/norwegian market, and therefore not legal to use here. Current requirement in norway is ECE Reg. 44-03 or 44-04. Also if you have a carseat with latch, it will not fit the european system with isofix. If you are moving here i would buy a new approved seat here. I did extensive research on bringing my carseat from norway to the US, and the US does not allow use of european seats (unless you are a visitor for a short time, norway regulation does not have an opening for visitors to use their own seat in such a case).
Anonym bruker Skrevet 9. januar 2009 #3 Skrevet 9. januar 2009 As the anonym over says, US carseats are not approved for use in Norway. I have, however, always bought mine in the US and used them here. I feel they are quite safe enough. When I had my first child, a 5 point harness in infant seats was difficult to impossible to find here in Norway, and I was determined to have that. The helsesøster knew my carseat was from the US and never said anything to me about it being illegal, but she didn't like me using a carseat at all (this was back in the days when it was really popular to use the cot part of the pram to hold infants in cars, which absolutely horrified me). So, I take my chances and hope for the best with my American carseats.
