Anonym bruker Skrevet 17. oktober 2008 #1 Skrevet 17. oktober 2008 I had mine yesterday and it was totally depressing. I felt like a cow afterwards and left the clinic in tears! She was neither helpful nor willing to listen to my concern.
Anonym bruker Skrevet 30. oktober 2008 #2 Skrevet 30. oktober 2008 Sorry to hear that - but I suggest you change doctor! I had a similar situation with this pregnancy, contacted NAV and changed in 3 seconds. My new doctor is as different again.
JGab Skrevet 30. mars 2009 #3 Skrevet 30. mars 2009 I find my doctor does nothing at all im my control visits, just takes blood pressure and a urine sample. Is this normal?
Anonym bruker Skrevet 30. mars 2009 #4 Skrevet 30. mars 2009 this is more or less the normal procedure. The urine sample tells the doctor a lot, as does the blood pressure. Later in the pregnancy my doctor also checked the fosterlyd (i don't know the english word, but it's the heartbeats), and position in the uterus. I was usually in there for about 5 minutes. After 20 weeks, i started seeing a midwife and doctor everyother control. The midwife session was 45 minutes the first time, and the other times about half hour. I would think it's possible to find one that speaks (some) english. Call your healtstation (helsestasjon, see your countys webpage), and set up an appointment:)
JGab Skrevet 31. mars 2009 #5 Skrevet 31. mars 2009 Thanks, I am glad to know it is normal at least She did say she would check the baby's heartbeat at our next visit (I will be 16 weeks then). I am used to a bit more hand-holding from the doctors I had back in Canada so this very basic approach has been a bit difficult for me!
Anonym bruker Skrevet 31. mars 2009 #6 Skrevet 31. mars 2009 Yes i can understand that:) It's partly because of a norwegian view that a pregnancy is not a sickness i think. I can recommed seeing a midwife later in your pregnancy if you can, they are much more hands-on:) You should be able to find one that speaks english:) I started around week 23 and alternated between seeing a midwife and the doctor.
rikedaspike Skrevet 3. april 2009 #7 Skrevet 3. april 2009 I can only say that you should see a midwife for your concerns- much better than a fastlege- I only saw the fastlege for a sick leave - the rest was he/ she totally useless....
JGab Skrevet 4. april 2009 #8 Skrevet 4. april 2009 I guess my confusion is my doctor explained that she would do my checkups at first and then "later" I would see a midwife, though she never said when and hasn't told me how to get in touch with one. I will have to be more forceful at my next visit and ask her for more information. Thanks everyone
StaciJo Skrevet 8. mai 2009 #9 Skrevet 8. mai 2009 I had a lot of problems with my fastlege during my pregnancy. Enough to the point I just stopped going to him, and only seeing my midwife. If you search your kommune website for jordmortjenesten there should be a link for Jordmødre where you can find your area and where your midwife center will be (at least that's how it is for Trondheim kommune). From there you can make an appointment. My midwife is AMAZING! and always answers any questions I have. Keep posting and I hope everything goes better for you!
