Anonym bruker Skrevet 8. september 2008 #1 Skrevet 8. september 2008 Hi everyone We will be expecting our first little boy next Feb and since it's the coldest winter month, does anyone of you have any experience / idea what a winter wardrobe should consist? Thanks for your suggestions!
mareg Skrevet 9. september 2008 #2 Skrevet 9. september 2008 Hi! I'm due in mid-Jan. 1-2 Wool body suits with long arms 1-2 body suits with short arms for indoors. 2 pairs wool socks may be a pair cotton socks for indoors 2 wool stockings pants and sweaters jacket (fleece) 1-2 wool hats gloves (wool) something in norway called "vognpose" (something that goes in the stroller ontop the wool carpet layer.
nybebis Skrevet 12. september 2008 #3 Skrevet 12. september 2008 and don't forget, you're not suppose to take an infant outside when it's over -10C. If you're not formiliar with the "vognpose" as mentioned over, the "voksi-pose" is fantastic!! It is really warm and "grows" with the baby. If you have the smalles of prams, like the boogaboo, it might not fit though ;0)
star00 Skrevet 13. september 2008 #4 Skrevet 13. september 2008 ah.... Thank you both! The voksipose, should we buy the 'sleeping bag' type, and how long can a baby use it before they are too big for it (roughly)? I know different baby has different length etc.... or is there another type we should buy?
Anonym bruker Skrevet 16. september 2008 #5 Skrevet 16. september 2008 If you have a "voksi-posi", the baby doesnt have to wear a lot of clothes. Often just what you would wear if you were indoor + hat and gloves. The voksi-pose is made of wool, and it is really great. The new type (voksi-posi active) fits until your child is 6 years old. The old type until your child is maybe 3-4 y-o. It´s a great investment, one you will not regret. Remember that babies shouldnt be taken outside if the temperature is below -10 degrees C. It is not because it will get cold, but because their lungs are not fully matured, and they can develop asthma from the cold air etc. For a baby you do not need a lot of clothes in the winter when you have a voksi-pose. Just what you would wear inside, a couple of hats, gloves, woolen socks and maybe a knitted woolen jacket or sweater. If you are going to take the baby driving, you might like to buy a one piece fleece suit or similar. Or maybe you can get someone to knit a woolen one? Voksi-pose can be bought second hand at finn.no. They are quite expensive, I think about 2000 NOK. But again, you will not regret it:-)
star00 Skrevet 16. september 2008 #6 Skrevet 16. september 2008 Great advice... Thank you! :-D Will check out Finn.no
Anonym bruker Skrevet 16. september 2008 #7 Skrevet 16. september 2008 I am sure you could also ask at "Skravlesiden" if someone has one to sell you (people do that all the time). If you are buying one at Finn.no, please make sure you buy it from someone who lives not to far away. Then you are able to have a look at it before you pay. The voksi-pose also works great as a play mat for your baby when going places:) Often the problem is more that you have to make sure your baby is not getting to warm! Even on the coldest days, you really do not need a lot of clothes on in it. Ps. Often a good idea to buy a neutral colour like plain navy blue or similar. Then you can use it for both genders and it will fit with any strollers. Pps. If you have a bugaboo or a Stokke Explory stroller, I think the voksi-pose might be too big, and you might want to check out other types.
Kiwi mamma Skrevet 19. september 2008 #8 Skrevet 19. september 2008 This is all fabulous - I am due in mid-January and come from a very mild climate so have NO IDEA about cold stuff. Add that to all the other things I am realising I haven't a clue about when it comes to a baby... But another question you wise wise women.... what about me? Starting to have to stretch those buttons on the coats a bit (more over the chest than the tummy to be entirely honest!) and it is starting to get a bit chilly now. Any tips on winter pregnancy dressing or mammaklær jackets that won't cost the earth?
Anonym bruker Skrevet 19. september 2008 #9 Skrevet 19. september 2008 Ha ha, I´m not all that wise, but if you would like to think that I am, fine by me:-D About jackets/coats: I don´t know your size (normal size), but what if you just buy a cheap, 3/4 long woolen classical coat (blue/grey/black) in a small size from the big & beautiful department at H & M or one of the other chain stores (Kappahl, Lindex etc.)? They go with everything and keep you warm. They often don´t cost that much, and you can wear it throughout the entire pregnancy. You really will need a warm coat for the winter here, I´m not kidding! If you are a small woman, just buy a cheap warm coat in a larger size than you usually wear. They often don´t cost more than about 3-400 NOK. A second option would be to buy a larger waterprrof/windproof jacket (or maybe borrow your husband´s?), and then buy a really thick woolen jumper to wear underneath, or a fleece jacket. If you are not planning on hiking etc., that would be fine too, but of course, doesn´t look that great with a dress or a skirt...:-p Maternity clothes are frequently overprized, but they sell coats and winter jackets in maternity sizes as well, both in the chain stores and other shops that sell maternity clothes (often expensive though)..
star00 Skrevet 20. september 2008 #10 Skrevet 20. september 2008 very true kiwi mamma to be! have you seen the advert. fm HnM - winter coat that cost 295kr c.a. i thought that would be a perfect buy, 70% wool and all. saw it last saturday, and yesterday they are all sold out at two outlet!!!!!!!!
star00 Skrevet 20. september 2008 #11 Skrevet 20. september 2008 right... so now it's shopping not only for baby...but for mummy.... so hard being pregnant in winter ;-p but guess, it will be worth it at the end of the day of cause :-)
Kiwi mamma Skrevet 23. september 2008 #12 Skrevet 23. september 2008 Takk takk! Either that one hasn't shown up at our H&M yet (little west coast town) or it has already sold out. But I did just try on one of husbands jackets and that is great! Don't know why I didn't think of that before (actually, no, I do know - because I am pregnant and tired and have potet stappe for brains), and that should definitely tide me over for at least a month (I also have no concept of how large I will actually get!). But of course not as nice as my usual coats! A balance of wanting to look nice (for whom? ME!) and becoming extraordinarily tight as soon as the test said "Gravid" is holding me back from spending lots on a maternity one but not stopping me from looking. Didn't think being pregnant in winter would be too bad but does get complicated with clothing, still, is better than my sister who will be hoy gravid in the middle of the NZ summer. I will just have to buy some cramp-ons for getting down our steep icy driveway...
