Bea <3 Skrevet 19. august 2008 #1 Skrevet 19. august 2008 My husband is from NZ and I thought it could be cool to meet someone from his country as he really misses NZ sometimes. also, he is a really keen surfer and looking for someone who'd like to go on surf missions around the Norwegan coast and/or other coasts. So, any surfers or Kiwis out there?!?!
Kiwi mamma Skrevet 19. august 2008 #2 Skrevet 19. august 2008 Kiaora! I am from NZ and my (Norwegian) husband likes to think he is a Kiwi. He even has kirituhi. We are in Kristiansund, not sure where you are? Where is NZ is he from? Have you lived there too? He can check out www.nzvikings.dk, a bit Denmark-centric, but some in Norway too. Also if he is on Facebook there is a New Zealanders in Scandinavia group too which has quite a few Kiwis in Norway, eso in Oslo. Good luck and look forward to hearing from you.
clarebear Skrevet 21. august 2008 #3 Skrevet 21. august 2008 Kiaora, I'm Clare and I have a son of 20mths and a KIWI partner!! I am new to Oslo/Norway and looking to make friends. Don't surf but keen to learn, but I am a skier: Do you ski? My partner also misses NZ and would love to meet other KIWI's too. Where about's in Norway do you live? Kakite Ano Clarebear
Bea <3 Skrevet 21. august 2008 Forfatter #4 Skrevet 21. august 2008 Kia Ora! thanks for reply. He did check out the nz- groups in facebook and thought it great! We are in a small town in Østfold just about 1 hr drive from Oslo, so a bit too far away to meet up with you guys:( My husband is from Albany, Auckland and I lived there for about a year too. NZ is amazing, we miss it heaps, but think the economical situation is way better here at the mo. How are you finding Norway so far, and how long have you been here for? Have you been to norskkurs? Po Marie!
Kiwi mamma Skrevet 25. august 2008 #5 Skrevet 25. august 2008 Yeah, we seem to be pretty far from everywhere here... is just where the family is. I come from the west coast just south of Port Waikato but lived in Auckland near Eden Park for the last five years before we moved here. We moved here Dec 2006. I have been to norskkurs and have a job where I speak norwegian all day - herregud! Husband and I speak maybe 50% English/Norwegian together. The plan was to spend a few years here so I could learn the language (I think it is so important to at least try when you marry someone from another country), the country, the culture a bit and of course get to know the family. I love Norway, I think it is an amazing country. I feel so lucky to have had the opportunity to really get to know another country so well. And it feels ridiculous to be proud of another country's gold medals (though rather wish NZ had stayed above Norway on the medals table!). I have had quite a few visitors from home and have loved showing off our little town and the mountains and fjords etc. I am now 20 weeks pregnant and was really sick for seven weeks so started to desperatly miss home - esp family. This is the first grandchild on both sides, but now my sister is pregnant and due two months after me so the hjemlengsel is very strong! It does look like NZ is more in a recession than Norway but for me at the end of the day it is about family, and we are both far far closer to mine. So looks like we'll be heading home in about a years time I think. I feel so lucky that my husband is 100% happy to move there. Do you think you will head back to live at some stage? How is your husbands Norwegian?
Bea <3 Skrevet 27. august 2008 Forfatter #6 Skrevet 27. august 2008 Kiaora Clare! Thanks for your reply! I am very sorry about my late reply. I saw your posting a few days ago, but didnt have time to write back then. I love skiing but havent skied for a couple of years as I was pregnant last winter, but cant wait to go this season. You have to try snowboarding if you get the chance, its a lot of fun after a thousand falls the first day;) You are saying your partner is from NZ, but are you kiwi also? We live 1 hr away from Oslo so we should meet up some time if you want to. We are running a guest farm, living in beautiful farm land and have some animals. We are going for holidays in England next week, but after that would be cool. Do you have a baby or are you pregnant? I have a son of 6 months:)
NormaJean Skrevet 29. august 2008 #7 Skrevet 29. august 2008 hey, just wanted to give you a tip about surfing in norway. my sister used to arrange surfing trips to Jæren with her club Team Peligroso. its hella cold thou;) i know its a trip this sept/oct sometime, ill ask my brother-in-law about it, i think he's going. so if youre interested in surfing and snowboarding contact the norwegian snowboard association (www.snowboardforbundet.no) they also have loads of great stuff for girls only, arrange trips and stuff.
