Sykehuset Asker og Bærum, Hjelp

I was given a choice between this and Ullevål and had chosen Bærum (we are close to it) without having a chance to check it out with friends since we were only 6+3 then. Now I have second thoughts.

 

According to Ullevål / Riks, there is no more space available (which I do not believe) and I need to have a strong reason to get the hospital changed.

 

Does anyone has any good or bad experiences giving birth at Sykehuset Asker og Bærum?

I had a bad experience with Ullevål, and know of several others who experienced similar situations. They give an impression of being understaffed and overworked. If I had a choice, I would definitely go for Bærum (or Rikshospitalet).

I have very good experience from both Riksen and Bærum. But I know for a fact that Riksen is very busy at the moment and it is difficult to get a place there. At Bærum they take really good care of you and I would recommend you to stay there. Ask for a visit if that makes you feel better. Good luck!

Hi

I had my daugther at Ullevål and had a good experience. But I think I was really lucky that I came in at just the right moment. And they had room for me :-)

Ullevål is really busy, and if they say there is no more space available, they are probably right...there are story`s about women in labour beeing sent to other hospitals because Ullevål don`t have room for them at that moment.

Riksen is really hard to get an available space...they primarily takes on cases that are difficult or more high risk pregnacy.

 

I have no experience with Asker og Bærum, but I think they will take really good care of you and your family :-)

Give them a ring and ask if you can come for a visit. Then you will know where to go and such when you go into labour :-)

Thank you both for your good insights espically Lykkebarn og Mathilde since you are the only person with experience from all the replies I've received! :-D

 

At least I will not risk the chance of being 'kick out' from a hospital which is always busy ).

We will be going for our first ultrasound in about 3 weeks and will definately get a good look at the hospital and it's facilities )
