Hi

I am wondering, apart from the 12 weeks 'safe-period', when did you start telling others you are expecting?

I told my husband and my mom and a couple friends the day I found out.

Tried to wait to tell the rest of the family, but they all sort of knew by week 8..........

First time for me though, never had any problems, and I am very bad at keeping secrets like that when they are my own.....

Hi didi0311

Because this is our first (as well :) , my husband didnt even want to tell his parents until after the first ultrasound :-(

We will not have the ultrasound until another month. Someone in the family suspected though and husband said I had just put on heaps of weight lately :-p

I am dying to tell at least our parents!!!! Gosh this is annoying......

How far along are you?

I know you are not "supposed" to tell until after the 12 weeks, but if you are pregnant, and something does go wrong (just being a realist here) - are you then going to keep it to yourself as well? Being absolutely devastated (some people get devastated, some people don't though....)???? I'd rather be sad and have friends and family around me.

Are you going for an early ultrasound? I did at 12+4 and I could see that the heart was beating and everything was good! Was expensive (1050 NOK) but at least you get to know that everything is ok. My husband wanted to wait till after 12 weeks before telling most of his family, I told everyone early. Most people that see you will start to wonder anyway......... my mom said I acted weird one week after getting pregnant, so it dodn't come as a shock to her anyway......

crap...

you know what, that's my point when i told my husband. if things are ok, then fine. if not, then i would like to have support etc. i'm now 12+4.

didnt even know why the bloody system here didnt have an earlier ultrasound like 'everywhere else'. i'm like 'everyone' getting a scan at 17/18/19 weeks. i cannot believe it!!!

anyway, i am seeing my doc in two days due to an unrine infect. earlier on and will ask my doc to 'write an email' to my husband saying it's OK to tell now! (meant to be a joke of coz) guess my husband just want to be sure, like yours (after 12 weeks) but mine is going too far for waiting until after the first ultrasound. anyhow, he said as long as the doc says it's ok to tell now, we will start to tell.

first time parents ..... guess we'r abit of a chicken :-p

First time parents.... same here. We are chickens too!!! Hihi......

Everywhere else?? In Canada they get one routine scan at 20 weeks, in Australia it is the same thing - at least as far as people have told me...... Where do you get more scans??

Scans can always be done privately!!! It costs, but it calms you down!

If you are 12+4 I would start telling, it is 96,8 % chance that everything goes ok now!! (according to BIM)

Make sure he tells his parents before the birth though..... grandparents are normally the proudest people!!!! Maybe even more proud than the parents some times!!!!!!! Don't want the grandparents to miss out...... hihi.
