JAIME Skrevet 4. februar 2008 #1 Skrevet 4. februar 2008 I'm from the states and giving birth there in 3 weeks and was wondering if anyone has any info to share... what to expect, tips, etc. It's a new experience giving birth over here and am already overwhelmed that my husband isn't allowed to stay at the hospital. My last pregnancy was also a c-section and would like to try natural this time around. Just don't know what to expect here and how their approach is on things. Thanks in advance!
EJP72 Skrevet 4. februar 2008 #2 Skrevet 4. februar 2008 I'm also from the states and had my first child at rikshospitalet a year ago. I was very happy with the hospital and the staff and if I get pregnant again I am definately going to try to go there again. Good luck!
mimmitiltre Skrevet 7. februar 2008 #3 Skrevet 7. februar 2008 hi, i had my first baby there 2 weeks ago (today) and the midwifes are superb !! However, I was also overwhelmed by the fact that the dads cannot stay at night and hated the days i stayed after the birth as they stress alot with teaching new mums how to breastfeed.. it ended with me leaving a day early as i simply couldnt handle it any more- especially this one older women who just comes in -grasps your baby without surporting his neck and carries him under her arms as if he was a bundle of clothes! my advice is to look forwrd to the birth- and stay as long as you have to at 'barsel' maybe 2 days if you can take it for that long and then go home early:) that's what i'll be doing next time:) GOOD LUCK!! )
Anonym bruker Skrevet 11. februar 2008 #4 Skrevet 11. februar 2008 It is great! Much better than Ullevåll. Dads cant stay unless you get a family room, but you get to stay at the hospital with help anytime you wish. They took my son for a few ours one of the first nights as I couldnt sleep and he cried a lot.. It was the best!! I could recover and take care of him the next morning... (at Ullevål you saty at a hotel and dont have the help at hand)
Anonym bruker Skrevet 25. april 2008 #5 Skrevet 25. april 2008 Rikshospitalet is great and much better than Ullevål. I loved the midwife I had there! A natural birth is the standard in Norway even after a caesarean. If there are any specific things you would like or not like during or after the birth, you can write an e-mail to [email protected]. They will put it in your file which will be visible on the computer screen in the delivery room, so that anybody who enters will know about your wishes. By the way they might let your husband stay the night if they have room - my husband stayed the first night. You might have had your baby already by now, if not: Good luck!
