Well, we're not aussies, but belgian (me) and norwegian (my husband) and we speak english amongst eachother? Maybe not really what you were asking, but it's the best I can do! ;-)

I also speak dutch (to our son of 2 and the one that's one the way) and norwegian (to everyone but my husband)

Anyway, it's not easy getting in touch with "foreigners" in Bergen, I posted a similar question a while ago, so it would be nice to get to know you! :-)

Hello Marijke!

I am Dutch, my husband Ethiopian and we too speak English together. I speak Dutch to my daughter of three months and my husband speaks Amharic to her.

Did you know that there is a Dutch school in Bergen? It is not full time, but three hours a week on Mondays, from 16:30 to 19:00. They have a break in which they eat something warm at 17:40. I sometimes go there to have a chat. I am sure you would be very welcome too. There are at least two more couples who have children born last year and this year. Send me a mail if you are interested.

I don't know that many Dutch speaking Belgians though- I just met a Belgian man, Philippe who has a two year old as well, like you. He works at Fridays in town. Perhaps you know him?

Dus hier m'n email: [email protected]...

Groetjes

Yep; I'm Australian (though my parents moved here when I was eight so I'm almost Norwegian I guess - we've always spoken Australian at home and eaten vegemite and gone back fairly regularly though) and my husband's American, so we only speak English at home.

I have an eleven-year-old daughter, and my husband and I are expecting our first child together on April 14.

Do you have kids, Leelah, or are you expecting? If our kids are similar ages, it would be great to get together!

Hello,

We are an English speaking couple in Bergen expecting our first child in a couple of weeks. He is American, I am Norwegian, and we speak mostly English, although we are trying to improve his Norwegian by speaking more Norwegian at home.

Would be nice to get in touch with others with similar background. We have many international couples among our friends, seems like having lived abroad and now residing in Bergen gives us certain commonalities that are interesting to explore (in English mostly).

Hi,

after the dutch post, back in English... :-) Our 2nd son was born 6 weeks ago, and a you can read earlier, we are belgian-norwegian. And it would be really nice to get to know more people! :-D

So, if anybody is up for a coffee or something (I'm not much of a coffee-drinker, to great shame of my parents-in-law... ;-)) we don't live near-near Bergen, we live in Samnanger, but near enough to be there quite often...

Hi Leelah,

I am writing from Adelaide at the moment, but am heading back to Bergen again early next year. My norwegian husband and I have been living between Bergen and Adelaide for the past 10 years. I have not found any fellow aussies in bergen the whole time I have been there, so it would be great to meet you, aswell as other international families.

We have 2 daughters, a 3 year old and an 11 month old.

Our 3 year old has forgotten all of her norwegian while we have been in oz this year, so I think I will have to stay at home with the kids for a while when we come back to get them settled into things again.

My email is [email protected]. Feel free to get in contact and hopefully we can meet up when I get back.

Hi Leelah!

I see a few people have answered you already, but I thought I'd si hi:)

I'm Norwegian but my husband is South African and we live in Bergen. We speak both Norwegian and English at home, mainly since my husband's Norwegian is so good, it helps him practice:)

Where in town do you live and do you have any children?

I'm due in a few weeks!!

Regards J
