The name Kim for a boy? (samme som english forum)

What do you think? my samboer likes the name alot, thinks its simple.

i like it too but am a bit worried coming from scotland where its mostly a girls name! We do know a male here called kim.

 

help! what do you think? would it suit a girl better?

in norway its mostly a boys name... but if you live in scotland and its a girls name there, i would find another name.

I Personally only know boys who's called Kim. But I do know that it's a common girl's name abroad.

 

I would catogorize Kim in the same league as Ronny, Johnny, Steffen and Harry (so-called "cheesy-names") but that is only my personal oppinion.

 

But as far as self-esteem and teasing concerned, I don't think your son would have any problems in Norway, named Kim.

I agree with your husband, it is nice and simple And in Norway it definately is a boy-name.

I only know one boy called Kim, in Norway I feel it is a boy's name and not short for Kimberly or other similar names, as it can be in English speaking countries.

Kim is a mosly boy name here in Norway. But it is really a unisex name, so I wouldnt worry to much about it. We like Jaden which aslo is unisex...

In Norway the name Kim is mostly used for boys...my boyfriends brother has that name His name is Kim Andrè...

It depends on where in Norway you live. I live on the westcoast, and here we prenaunse/say "kim" when we use the word "who". So it`s confussing when someone has the name Kim. He things we call on him all the time when we talk :-)
