SurferMamma Skrevet 11. desember 2006 #1 Skrevet 11. desember 2006 Does anyone have a good suggestion for a cool name for a Norwegian/Aussie girl?? One that is easy to pronounce in both languages.... Im out of ideas.
2trollunger Skrevet 11. desember 2006 #2 Skrevet 11. desember 2006 Our little Aussie/Norwegian girl is called Sophie I pronounce it in Norwegian and my boyfriend in English. And she does the same, depending on who she's talking to (English or Norwegian). We were looking for a name that sounded the same in both languages, but we both loved this name. Or how about : Lucy, Olivia, Mia, Sarah, Ella, Lilly (Hmmm... it is hard isn't it?!) Did you like any of these?
SurferMamma Skrevet 11. desember 2006 Forfatter #3 Skrevet 11. desember 2006 Thanks heaps for helping. We've been through some of the names above, I like Mia, and maybe Maya too but kind of feel we want something more different.... Been thinking about Lina, thats quite nordic but not so hard to pronounce in english once they find out its pronounced Lina and not Laina. Oh I dont know. Sophie is very cute. Do you live in Norway or Oz? We're in Oslo to summer and then heading down under for a year or two. More suggestions - very appreciated!
Kanskje snart? *igang igjen * Skrevet 11. desember 2006 #4 Skrevet 11. desember 2006 Elisabeth, Beth, Mette, Marianne, Hilde, Trude, Linda, Marita....hmm got plenty more,.....;-)
2trollunger Skrevet 12. desember 2006 #5 Skrevet 12. desember 2006 No!!! Don't choose Mette! It's a beautiful name, but nobody understood my friend when she said her name! They thought it was Matty! It was like their mouth just couldn't say it! Isabella is a beatutiful name! Or even have a look at really old Norwegian ones?! We're in Australia, been here for two years now!
Gjest Skrevet 12. desember 2006 #6 Skrevet 12. desember 2006 I have a girls name picked out for when me and my boyfriend plan on having another (nz/norwegian) child its Erica michelle i think it goes well in both languages, but emma is also a popular name in both english and norwegian, i dont use it coz its my name hehe
Kanskje snart? *igang igjen * Skrevet 13. desember 2006 #8 Skrevet 13. desember 2006 Hmm more? Cecilie Trude Tine (might sound weird in English..) Anne Lise Lisa Kristine Katrine Charlott Margrete Merete Maria Ingrid ( I like Ingrid Louisa) Thea Marthe Hanne Puh...Hope that helps???
Anonym bruker Skrevet 13. desember 2006 #9 Skrevet 13. desember 2006 My suggestion is Anita - my daughter's name.
Anonym bruker Skrevet 14. desember 2006 #10 Skrevet 14. desember 2006 What about Sidney or Victoria??? great Australian cities, pronouncable in both languages and beautiful in both languages.
sistemannpåvei Skrevet 14. desember 2006 #11 Skrevet 14. desember 2006 haha, My sister's name is Mette, and she can totally relate to your comment. My husband (amercan) loves to tease her and call her martha and\or matty. She HATES it. My daughter's name is Kiara Samantha, and both those names works really well.
Mot alle odds Skrevet 29. desember 2006 #13 Skrevet 29. desember 2006 Hello, I suggest Ellen. It doesn't pronounce exactly identical in English and Norwegian, but near enough. Short and easy to spell. My parents chose Suzanne for me to be international and that surely works everywhere - even in French! Other suggestions:Julia, Hannah. Good luck and please let us know your final choice.. :-)
lilja70 Skrevet 7. januar 2007 #14 Skrevet 7. januar 2007 Amanda is a good old name that has been used here for more than a century, it doesn't have æøå, i and r also changes the prononciation between the languages...
Da HarViTreUnger Skrevet 8. januar 2007 #16 Skrevet 8. januar 2007 Or what about Ella, Elli, Livia, Sofie, Sarah, Erica, Tara? Godd luck )
2trollunger Skrevet 9. januar 2007 #17 Skrevet 9. januar 2007 Or Mathilda! Aussies love that name! It means a lot to them I think! Waltzing Mathilda.... If you know what I mean?

Anonym bruker Skrevet 17. januar 2007 #20 Skrevet 17. januar 2007 I think Molly is a really cute name and it goes well in both English and Norwegian. That will probably be my baby's name if it turns out that I'm expecting a girl. We're an British/Norwegian couple.
kathrinemor Skrevet 18. januar 2007 #21 Skrevet 18. januar 2007 Michaela (our choice) Anna Hannah Rebecca Madeleine Victoria Selma Linda Elinor
SurferMamma Skrevet 18. januar 2007 Forfatter #22 Skrevet 18. januar 2007 Hey people thanks a lot for your answers. To Curious: we havent landed on a name yet, still eight weeks to go and I feel I need to see her first to make up my mind. I like Selma but my boyfriend cant help but assosiate it to Bart Simpsons aunt...And he's from Brisbane and dont like the idea of Sydney even though I think its sweet. Not sure if my norwegian grandmother would know how to pronounce it though... One name we are really concidering is Lina. My aussie boyfriend thinks it cool even though he would like to spell it Lena - but that makes it a total different name in norwegian. Any good suggestions on whats a good second name for Lina? Not sure if we need one, but fun anyway. And have a wonderful day everyone
