Anonym bruker Skrevet 21. desember 2010 #1 Skrevet 21. desember 2010 Hello! My husband and me have decided to start trying next year. I have read in several sites that the most advisable thing before consider getting pregnant is to pay a visit to the doctor - to check that everything is alright before embarking ourselves into a pregnancy. These sites are in english, and I haven't found much information of this practice here in Norway. Haven't even read that it's recommended here. So, my question is: should I even bother to make an appointment with my doctor? Would I get some useful information and proper questions and possible tests before getting pregnant? I'd very much have it...but I don't know if i risk going to an appointment, where the only thing i would get is an advice of taking folic acid (which i have started taking already btw) Did any of you have one of these preconceptional visits to the doctor? Thank you for your input

But you should see the doctor if you have any special risks, or if you take medisin that you are worried about. If everything is fine just go for it, and see the doctor when you are pregnant!
klar for 3? Skrevet 7. januar 2011 #3 Skrevet 7. januar 2011 A bit late to answer, but no- it's not common unless you have any special conditions. But you are adviced to take folic acid for three months before getting pregnant. Good luck
