Anonym bruker Skrevet 16. januar 2008 #26 Skrevet 16. januar 2008 My vote is for Emilia Liv and Patrick Jon. Both of these names sound good in English and Norwegian. I personally would not chose Siv as a middle name because it sounds like Steve when prounounced in English. At least thats the experience I have. Best of luck. Norwegian Mom to be in Texas
Anonym bruker Skrevet 29. januar 2008 #27 Skrevet 29. januar 2008 those names work well in the us but NOT in Norway!! Think about the well being of your kids, that they should feel confortable in each country with their names! Double names with a mix of Norwegian and English names are consindered to be bad tast in Norway. Sorry to say so.. Try to go for something more neutral that work in both countries: Michael Michelle Thomas Caroline Nicolas Kristina Lucas Vivian Stephan Sarah Christian Alexandra David Celine Carl Julie/Julia Alexander Charlotte Julian Olivia
Anonym bruker Skrevet 31. januar 2008 #28 Skrevet 31. januar 2008 I have added a piece over here (HI) saying that we know know that we are expecting a boy, and that we have added Martin and Fillip to our list. SO now it is between Fillip, Martin, Oliver or Patrick. I think people are still answering to the first Q. No more girls names, and Jon is staying as a middle name bc it is after my husbands late father. So suitable in Norway or not, the middle name will be Jon. I am norwegian myself and think Jon goes with about anything. But, it is great w/lots of different opinions so keep it coming!!! What do you think girls??? (HI)
Anonym bruker Skrevet 18. august 2008 #31 Skrevet 18. august 2008 Do you rank names after class? Geeez..
Anonym bruker Skrevet 18. august 2008 #32 Skrevet 18. august 2008 My favorite is oliver:) However, it is a popular name here in norway now, it seems to be up and coming. The last 4 years about 300+ have been named oliver a year. The same is to be said about philip/fillip is becoming more popular, but not as used as oliver at the moment (325 last year, but 3 different spellings). I don't know if this is relevant for your choice though:) We were thinking about oliver, but didn't go with it because of the popularity. My own name was on the 10 most popular list when i grew up, and it was annoying to always have the first letter in your last name added to your name.
Gorgonvaktmester Skrevet 22. august 2008 #33 Skrevet 22. august 2008 I think all the names are nice, with the exception of Kevin (see above heated debate on low class losers ... I do associate Olivia and Mat(hilda) with older people, but that might just be me. Note that Norwegians would probably consistently write Finnian as Finn Ian, due to the latter being known to them.
